Nature is a fickle, fickle, B%^%.

Folks, all I have to say is "[editors note: This section contains material unsuitable for pretty much anyone.]"

It snowed again in Akh, and then it iced again. So, after a brief, beautiful foray into spring, winter has returned (turns out she was just out drinking with her friends...) and as it turns out, she's pissed to find some other woman in her house. And she's a violent drunk, let me tell you...

There's something deeply heartbreaking about going away for the weekend to a woman's health event and returning home to find an inch of snow on the ground and a small blizzard blowing in. Ugly! On the upside, there - wait, no, there isn't an upside. *sigh*

On a totally different note, we spent the weekend in Zugdidi, which is up by Abkhazia, one of Georgia's breakway regions. [Note to the PC staff reading this post: We did not go to Abkhazia. Please don't kick us out.] The war left 250,000 people homeless and displaced, which had the result of dramatically increasing the size of Zugdidi. It's a lovely city, and quite large; over 100,000 people live there. In comparison, Akh has about 10 - 20 thousand. The scale is just a bit different. Georgia is a dramatically variable country, and this area was in full spring mode - green grass and budding trees. There was a blossoming tree (maybe cherry or pear, not sure) that was just beautiful.

Then it rained every day we were there, which sort of cut down on the random site-seeing. But we had a wonderful time at Mark and Lisa's house. Plus, they let us use their internet for skype... Violet, you'll never actually read this, but happy birthday! We tried to call, really, several times...

So, now I'm back in Akh, wondering what happened to the warmth, and being a little bit bitter about it. C is off at a Peace Corps project retreat, advising them about the tefl program (because she's very bright!) in Signaghi, where our friend heather lives. She should be having a good time away from the snow... and I'm not in the least bit jealous. Not even a little bit. Okay, a little bit. Sure, maybe some of me is jealous. Fine, I'm consumed by jealousy. Darn you Blogger by Google - you always know when I'm lying.

The weather will warm up again, my projects will be fully engaged, and life will be awesome. Keep hoping...

Oh, she'll sober up soon enough and get all weepy and regret how she's been treating you and slobber her apologies all over your best sweater ...
